Scientific activities of the Department of «Social and Humanitarian Disciplines»
One of the key areas of activity of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines is the research work of the academic staff. The Department’s faculty members have publications in both domestic and international scholarly outlets. They actively participate in international scientific and practical conferences, congresses, seminars, and training sessions both within the country and abroad, and undertake professional development courses across various fields and disciplines. Faculty research contributes to a deeper understanding of academic subjects, while joint work with students enables the sharing of knowledge and experience, significantly enhancing students’ intellectual development and broadening their outlook.
The Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines employs young scholars, including Kalykova A.O., Aldeken A.S., Shashaeva M., Mutalipkyzy U., Ibrayeva A.E., and Tasqul T.Zh. A young scholar of the Department, Kalykova Almagul Oralbekovna continues her doctoral studies at al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the specialty «Social Pedagogy». The topic of her research is «Development of the discursive competence of a social pedagogue in working with parents». The doctoral candidate completed a research internship at Vilnius University (Vilnius, Republic of Lithuania) from March 22, 2025 to April 20, 2025.
Senior Lecturer of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines, Aldeken Ainur Sabyrbaykyzy, was admitted to the PhD program in the specialty «Ethnology and Anthropology» at al-Farabi Kazakh National University as part of the spring intake of the 2024–2025 academic year.
In the 2025 academic year, doctoral candidate Kalykova Almagul Oralbekovna published two articles in a journal recommended by Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In addition, articles by Senior Lecturers Kalykova Almagul Oralbekovna and Aldeken Ainur Sabyrbaykyzy were published in the proceedings of international scientific and practical conferences.
Senior Lecturer Kiekenova Bağdat Bazylkankyzy was admitted to the PhD program in the specialty “Philosophy” at al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Her research topic is «The evolution of the concept of justice in the consciousness of the Kazakh ethnos and its transformation in the contemporary context».
Sagnaykyzy Samal published the article “The Issue of Adaptation of Soviet Law Enforcement Organizations to the Administrative-Command System” in the BULLETIN of Abai KazNPU, series “History and Political-Social Sciences,” No. 1(84), 2025, pp. 169–185, the article “Sustainable Farming: Links between Meat Procurement and Green Economy Principles in Kazakhstan (1927–1932)” in the Asian Journal “Steppe Panorama”, series 12(5), 2025, the article “Corruption and Politicization: Transformation of the Law Enforcement System of the Kazakh ASSR on the Pages of the Newspaper ‘Enbekshi Kazakh’ (late 1920s – early 1930s)” in Otan Tarikhy, Vol. 28, No. 4 (2025): National History, 2025, the article “Collectivization and Repressions: Transformation of Kazakh Society in the 20th Century” in Otan Tarikhy, Vol. 28, No. 3 (2025): National History, 2025, recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Shashaeva Malika Auezkhankyzy published the article «The problem of equality of kazakh women in scientific and literary works of the Аlash intelligentsia of the early 20th century» in the Asian Journal “Steppe Panorama”, Series 12(5), 2025, recommended by Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Publishing activities
The publishing output of the academic staff has increased significantly. In the 2025 academic year, the total number of research and research-and-methodological works reached 138, which is 1.5% higher than in 2024 (135 publications).
Whereas in 2024 the Department’s academic staff published 4 papers in foreign conferences, 29 in international conferences, and 45 in national conferences; produced 5 textbooks and teaching-and-methodological manuals; published 17 articles in foreign journals, including 1 indexed in Web of Science; and published 33 articles in national journals (of which 5 were in journals recommended by Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 28 in other outlets), as well as obtained 1 author’s certificate, in 2025 the staff published 14 articles in journals recommended by Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delivered 7 papers at foreign conferences, 15 at international conferences, and 11 at national conferences, and published 3 textbooks and teaching-and-methodological manuals.

A notable achievement of the Department is the publication of two articles by its faculty members in journals indexed in Scopus and Clarivate Analytics (Web of Science). These articles were published in the fields of the History of Kazakhstan and Political Science.
Overall, these indicators demonstrate a qualitative improvement in the performance of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines.
